It is the Company's intention to comply with all relevant health and safety legislation. A documented safety management system that covers all aspects of the business has been implemented to help achieve this. Resources, both financial and physical, are and will be made available to ensure that health ad safety is given the priority it requires. Successful management of health and safety is a prime Company objective and all employees have a valuable contribution to make towards its achievement. A dedicated team of full-time Health and Safety Advisors is employed to provide support to our Operational Divisions. Further assistance is available within the business from nominated employees who hold the responsibility for carrying out specific safety duties and providing additional safety support. It is recognised that effective communication on health and safety matters is of vital importance and the Company is committed to ensuring that its employees are provided with the necessary supervision, information, instructions and training. The above diagram illustrates levels of responsibility within the operational structure for Health and Safety supported by the Safety Department and individual specialists (operational people with additional health and safety duties). The CORRECT - ESCALATE route shows the reactive process. An example being the action taken following an accident or near miss. The ENSURE - DO route shows the Proactive process. Working in a safe manner and checking that this work is being done safely. An example being: carrying out safety inspections. The Company will monitor the effectiveness of this policy on a regular basis with a format review annually. It will be revised as often as may be appropriate. We must never be complacent; our ongoing aim is for continual improvement of our health and safety performance. |
